Some of Henkle’s most fun activities wouldn’t happen without chaperones. They make ski trips, school dances, and field trips possible.
Teachers Sally Wells and Christine Pfister take students to Mt. Hood Meadows to ski and snowboard. These ski trips happen every other Friday during winter. It’s a lot cheaper to go with the school group, and we all help pay for the bus. This is a great opportunity for students from 5th through 8th grade. Some people wouldn’t get to go skiing without these trips. We have chaperones come along and ride the bus.
Claire Samuels, a 5th grader, has gone on the trips with her dad chaperoning. She said, “If you don’t end up sitting with your ski partner you can sit with your parent.”
Most school dances are for 7th and 8th graders and they are super fun. The DJ plays really good music, and some of the parent chaperones even get into dancing. They happen about once a month or so on Friday nights and are put on by the ASB leaders. The 6th and 7th graders usually have a dance at the end of the school year. The kids are very appropriate and mature as they have fun. Neither of these activities is available to kids with failing grades or on the step program (behavior problems.) Ski trips and dances are a privilege.
We appreciate our chaperones! Please continue to support us!
