During a fundraiser, lots of parents wonder: What does this money that I’m spending go to? Well, here are some of the answers.
Henkle PTO puts on the Monster Mash just before Halloween, and Santa’s Breakfast in early December. The PTO raises about $5,000 with these two community events, and it puts the funds right back into many activities, such as the Maryhill Museum Field Trips, the Holocaust Memorial Museum trips, music instrument repair, drama activities, Challenge Day, and much more.
Project Open Door raises money by doing concession stands during school games, and collecting box tops and ink cartridges. This goes on throughout the school year. The money pays for fun POD activities.
The Performing Arts Boosters get money from selling band calendars in the fall and putting on the Viva Musica dinner in March. (This year Viva Musica will take place Feb. 26.) This is a combined middle school and high school group. The money raised pays for things like instruments, music, field trips, and the materials for drama sets.
ASB fundraisers are the magazine sale/cookie dough sale in the fall and the walk-a-thon in early spring. ASB is also considering the sale of lanyards, beanies (hats) and baseball caps. The ASB pays for things like school dances, some field trips, and spirit assemblies.
